Landegodekjerringa

At Landegode outside Bodø we find a unique landmark known as Landegodekjærringa.

The formation resembles an elderly lady sitting in a rocking chair and knitting while looking out over the sea. Historically, it is said that she watches over the fishermen at sea to ensure their safety.

We take the morning express boat from Bodø to Landegode, where we head north along the beautiful coastline on the outer side of the island. As we approach Kjærringa, we follow a chute north of the formation and cross towards the head on the south side. Three rope lengths with 5+ climbing and a challenging traverse await you at the end, which are sharper than a rooftop. From the top of Kjærringa we take three long, airy rappels down again. If everything goes as planned, we will catch the express boat back to Bodø in the afternoon. Sometimes we also plan accommodation on the island.
